When the audiologists guide users to wear hearing aids, they always advise users to adhere to wearing. However, some users misunderstand the meaning and wear it during sleep. They believe that wearing a hearing aid to sleep can improve sensitivity and response to surrounding sounds.
In fact, the most useless behavior among wearing hearing aids is not wearing them frequently and sleeping with them. So what may happen when wearing a hearing aid to sleep?
1. Produce ear tenderness
The skin inside the human ear canal is thin, with few soft tissues and densely distributed nerves. If hearing aid ear mold are pressed against the external ear for a long time while wearing a hearing aid to sleep, it can cause tenderness and discomfort, and can also cause ear canal inflammation.
2. Causing a howl
When we sleep on our side, the ear canal may deform due to compression, and at this point, the sound output from the hearing aid may leak out from the gap in the deformed ear canal. It is collected by the hearing aid microphone and generates a feedback loop, which generates a howling sound. If the howling sound is too loud or lasts too long, it may cause secondary damage to hearing and also affect the sleep of people around it.
3. Damaged or lost
When turning over while sleeping, it may cause hearing aids to fall off the ear canal, fall to the ground, or be pressed down by the body, posing a risk of damage and loss, and increasing the cost of repair and replacement
4. Increase the power consumption of hearing aids
When wearing a hearing aid while sleeping, if the hearing aid is still working, its power consumption will correspondingly increase, and the frequency of battery replacement will also increase accordingly.
So, if there is no need to listen to sound during sleep, it is recommended to remove the hearing aid during sleep. You should open the battery compartment, remove the battery, and place your hearing aid in a drying box, allowing it to rest well.
